THE CHINTZ (Set of 2 volumes), 1983

This deluxe edition in 2 volumes features the Museum’s unique collection of printed and painted cotton fabrics generally known as chintz. The text for the English edition is from "Indian Painted and Printed Fabrics" by John Irwin and Margaret Hall, 1971, and "Indian Pigment Paintings on Cloth" by Kalyan Krishna and Kay Talwar, 1979, which are Volumes I & III in the series ‘Historic Textiles of India at the Calico Museum’.

Volume I contains 40 black & white plates of full pieces and

explanatory text on all 87 fabrics.

Volume II contains 118 colour plates with details of many pieces. Hard bound cover.
