Information for Visitors

On account of security concerns, the Foundation is constrained to adopt the following steps. These arrangements will remain in force till further notice. Any inconvenience caused to the visitors on this account is greatly regretted.

1. No baggage/handbags including cameras and cell phones etc., shall be allowed inside the Foundation and the Galleries. It is recommended that the visitors leave their belongings inside their own vehicles. There is a provision for depositing belongings at the gate. However, the management will not be responsible for the contents of the bags etc.

2. The Galleries are open free of charge on all days of the week, except Wednesdays and public holidays. However, visit to the Shop and the Galleries is limited to the hours given below. Right of admission to the Foundation is reserved by the Management.

3. The tour aims at giving a brief introduction to the Collections.

4. A wide range of publications, black and white photographs, colour prints of some objects, reproductions of selected pieces on cloth & paper are available at the Reception.

5. The Reference Library of the Resource Centre is available by prior appointment.

6. Visits to the Botanical Garden are arranged through the Reception.

Following the advice of the conservation experts, the level of illumination in the galleries has been kept low. This is strictly in the interest of preserving this national heritage for posterity, as higher levels of lighting lead to deterioration in colours and materials. We hope that visitors will kindly bear with us in this matter. It may be useful to know that, after some time, one’s eyes get adjusted to seeing even in low levels of lighting.

The Foundation and the Galleries are built at several levels with steps, staircase and different kinds of floor. Visitors are requested to kindly keep this in mind, especially during electricity failure, while walking inside. The management bears no responsibility in this respect towards the visitors.

A large part of the collections has been catalogued and copies of these illustrated catalogues have been kept in galleries for easy reference by visitors. For easy identification of the displayed pieces in the catalogue, the Accession Nos. are marked on stickers affixed to the pieces.

In addition, brief printed Gallery Notes are available for reference.

Visitors are not permitted to take photographs and video without permission.

The Management hopes that the visitors will find their visit pleasurable and informative.
