The Calico Museum of Textiles has an interesting and varied collection of appliqué pieces on display and in store. Appliqué, a French term used for applied work, is the addition of fabrics or embroidered pieces to a background fabric. In India appliqué is used on a wide range of objects including hangings for temples or for the household, on tents and canopies for festive occasions, to decorate camels and bullocks.
